Here The Hindu Editorial Vocab - 22nd March 2017 - Topic 2 - "Managing Manipur: On the importance of a stable government"
- 1. Coalition - a temporary union of different political parties that agree to form a government together
- 2. Circumstance - a fact or condition that affects a situation
- 3. Ethnic - relating to a particular race of people
- 4. Strife - violent or angry disagreement
- 5. Insurgency - an occasion when a group of people attempt to take control of their country by force
- 6. Cohesive - the situation when the members of a group or society are united
- 7. Verdict - an official judgment
- 8. Crucial - extremely important or necessary
- 9. Manoeuvre - a movement or set of movements needing skill and care
- 10. Undertake - to do or begin to do something, especially something that will take a long time or be difficult
- 11. For instance - for example
- 12. Reportedly - according to what many people say
- 13. Undue - to a level that is more than is necessary, acceptable, or reasonable
- 14. Haste - great speed in doing something because of limited time
- 15. Despite - used for saying that something happens even though something else might have prevented it
- 16. Inexplicably - unable to be explained or understood
- 17. Legislator - a member of a group of people who together have the power to make laws
- 18. Ascertained - to make certain of something
- 19. Contradiction - the fact of something being the complete opposite of something else or very different from something else, so that one of them must be wrong

- 21. Aspiring - someone who is trying to become successful in specific field (here politics)
- 22. Tactic - a planned way of doing something
- 23. Tenure - the period of time during which someone has an important job or is an elected official
- 24. Blockade - the situation in which a country or place is surrounded by soldiers or ships to stop people or goods from going in or out
- 25. Called off - to decide that a planned event, will not happen, or to end an activity because it is no longer useful or possible
- 26. Tripartite - involving three people or organizations, or existing in three parts
- 27. Reiterate - to say something again, once or several times
- 28. Negotiations - the process of discussing something with someone in order to reach an agreement with them, or the discussions themselves
- 29. Drastic - a drastic action or change has a very big effect
- 30. Predecessor - someone who had a job or a position before someone else
- 31. Bifurcate - to divide into two parts
- 32. Integrity - the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles that you refuse to change
- 33. Adherent - a person who strongly supports a particular person, principle, or set of ideas
- 34. Disenchanted - no longer believing in the value of something, especially having learned of the problems with it
- 35. Regime - a government that controls a country, especially in a strict or unfair way
