  • 6.       Stepped up - to take action when there is a need or opportunity for it
  • 7.       Astutely - able to understand a situation quickly and see how to take advantage of it
  • 8.       Meagre - smaller or less than you want or need
  • 9.       Commenced - to begin
  • 10.   Rousing - making people feel excited and proud or ready to take action
  • 11.   Acme - the highest possible standard of something
  • 12.   Rarefied - (of air) with little oxygen
  • 13.   Ebbing away - to becomes less strong or disappear
  • 14.   Scrutiny - careful examination of someone or something
  • 15.   Bogged down - to be/become so involved in something difficult or complicated that you cannot do anything else
